AQUAGAS is proud of the partnerships and collaborations we’ve built over the years. We have had the privilege of working with clients who have a global presence, many of them on a long-term basis. Below are some of our key projects:
REFHYNE - WORLD´S LARGEST PEM ELECTROLYSER
The Shell Rhineland Refinery in Wesseling, Germany, operates the world’s largest hydrogen PEM electrolyzer. With a peak capacity of 10 MW (megawatts), the electrolyzer produces approximately 1,300 tonnes of hydrogen annually.
AQUAGAS supplies the hydrogen purification system for the facility. The hydrogen production plant, manufactured by ITM Power, is operational since 2022.
HYBRIT - REPLACING COKING COAL WITH HYDROGEN
HYBRIT (Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology) is a joint venture between SSAB, LKAB, and Vattenfall, focused on replacing coal with hydrogen in the steelmaking process.
AQUAGAS is the supplier of the hydrogen purification system for the pilot plant in Luleå. The hydrogen plant, manufactured by NEL, began its operations in 2022.
ESS LUND - ADVANCED RESEARCH REQUIRES ADVANCED TOOLS
The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a multidisciplinary research facility that operates the world’s most powerful neutron source.
AQUAGAS supplies the helium purification system for the cooling system of the particle accelerator. Helium, used as a coolant, can be cooled to -272°C, just above absolute zero (0 Kelvin). The helium cooling system was manufactured by Linde Kryotechnik, with commissioning started in 2022.
NORTHVOLT - MISSION TO BUILD THE WORLD`S GREENEST BATTERY
Northvolt AB is a Swedish battery developer and manufacturer, specialized in lithium-ion technology for electric vehicles.
AQUAGAS has supplied a purification system for compressed air free of carbon dioxide for the pilot plant in Västerås already. 4 pcs of large scale units have been produced for Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå. The compressed air system is manufactured by Atlas Copco.
